The pharmacist and chemist Théophile LeClerc was a make-up pioneer. In 1881, he developed the first dermophilic rice powder in Paris, with a smooth, fine texture that improved the complexion and was the opposite of the usual products on the market at the time. The special manufacturing process – a closely guarded secret – made it possible to sterilise the powder.
